Default Playing aces or kings under the gun

When I get AA or KK in first position, I like to "just call" with the hopes for a raise later in the turn. Then I will either just "smooth call" or I will re-raise depending on how many people are left before the flop.

I think you want more money in the pot, but want to narrow it down to 2 players. This gives you the best chance to win the most money IMHO.

It can backfire if 5-8 players just call to see the flop though.

Any opinions here? How do you play this scenario?

I like to raise preflop to get rid of some of the limpers that always seem to hit a set on flop with low pair. After the flop i keep the callers in without being too aggressive unless i see a flush or str8 in the offing...then of course it is all in. I try not to give them a chance to hit on river.

when i touch AK or KK i raise a lot : if blinds are 200 / 400 i raise to 1600 because i want to limit bad beat and if i lose i don't have any regrets ... and i say : that's poker ^^

slowplay is very difficult to practice but when you have the luck with you, you will win a lot !!!

First best is to change gears when you have KK or AA in my oppinion you have to change the way you play them verytime you get em 1 play would be to just raise 3 to 5 time,s BB and check what stack you have and the other players with a 5 time BB raise you might get 1 call or even a reraise if that happens(reraise) sure you go ai....

That,s just one way to play them I think slowplay you should rarely slowplay Aces couse: like Dan Harrington says in his book quote: Slowplaying creates a smaller pot with more participants_ exactly what you don,t want

Ok i,ll leave it at that and see what else come,s up on this topic lol cya soon time for me to go back to PKR and play!

I think you have to raise big because if you have half the table calling then you are bound to lose. They are great starting hands if you raise but there are basically only 2 cards that can improve your hand. Because of this you need to weed out the people that would have a straight draw or flush draw before the flop.

See I completely agree...but then again, the only time I slowplay them is under the gun in first position...because I normally see a raise and then can re-raise.

Then again, I usually play higher limits suited for pros like me .
